March 10 was the result day for the election in five states including Punjab. While the final results remain still awaited, the early rounds of counting almost cleared the winners in all five states. While BJP leads in all four states, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) looks all set to form the government in Punjab.

The ruling party, Indian National Congress (INC) has been thrown out of power by the people. With Congress losing by such a big margin, party state chief Navjot Singh Sidhu was on the radar of trolls. The former India cricketer could not even win from the seat he was contesting. Sidhu was contesting the assembly elections from East Amritsar. In the early hours of counting, Sidhu was trailing and eventually lost to AAP's Jeevan Jyot Kaur.

As soon as Sidhu lost, Twitter was up and running with his name in top trends. Users started trolling the former cricketer for losing the election with a huge margin. "Sidhu has done to Congress what he had done many times when he was a cricketer: run better batsmen out and then get out himself," wrote one of the users.

People also trolled Sidhu for losing to Bhagwant Mann as they both share a long history. Way back in 2008, Bhagwant Mann was eliminated from a show called 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge' judged by Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Voice of people is voice of God: Sidhu

Meanwhile, Navjot Singh Sidhu gracefully accepted his defeat and congratulated his opposition leaders who won. He called voice of people as the voice of God. "The voice of the people is the voice of God …. Humbly accept the mandate of the people of Punjab …. Congratulations to Aap !!!" tweeted Sidhu post his defeat.
