Australian opener Usman Khawaja is regarded as one of the most prolific Test batters in world cricket. The 35-year-old has etched his name as a dependable batter who likes to play till the deep and convert his fifty into 100s. Having played several match-winning knocks for Australia, Pakistan-born batter is a regular name in red-ball cricket.
Meanwhile, Arsalan Tariq Khwaja, brother of Usman Khawaja has walked free from jail after spending four years in prison for allegedly forging terror threats in another men's notebook. According to reports, 42-year-old had earlier admitted that he forged fake entries in his colleague Kamer Nizamdeen's notebook in August 2018 after getting jealous of his contact with mutual female friend Shakeela Shahid. Reportedly, Arsalan added death threats to the former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and the Governor-General.
"Arsalan also added the list of police stations that he planned to attack. He also listed the Anzac Day ceremony, the Boxing Day Test match, and St Mary's Cathedral landmark. His colleague was first charged with terror offenses and even spent four weeks inside the infamous Goulburn Supermax Prison where Australia's most dangerous criminals are held.
After being found guilty by the court, Arsalan was sentenced to four and a half years of jail term with a non-parole period of two-and-a-half years. During his imprisonment, Arsalan admitted that he tapped phones of authorities about another innocent man's involvement in fake visas and terrorism accusations. In that call, he reportedly told authorities that his brother Usman was a possible target of that man.
