Former India captain and star batter Virat Kohli was among the first member from the team to land in Australia before the opening game of the highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. Although, the Indian batter left for down under just hours prior to the departure of the first batch on Sunday, November 10, Kohli was seen absent from the training sessions which were held on Tuesday, November 12.
It is to be noted that according to a source from the Times of India (TOI), Kohli has travelled to Australia with his wife Anushka Sharma and two kids, Vamika and Akaay. However, in the videos surfacing from Team India’s practice session, top-order batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, wicketkeeper-batters Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul were seen hitting the nets in Perth.

Although details around this development are unknown as the Indian team is undergoing strict training camp in Perth with several restrictions. According to a report published in The West Australian, the Men in Blue are training in a secret camp at the WACA in Perth. The report states that the Optus Stadium is currently under lockdown and public viewing of the practice sessions have been barred.
Moreover, along with the practice sessions being kept private, there have been heavy restrictions imposed on the staff including the use of mobile phones. The Indian team has opted for a meticulous approach, ensuring that strategies and training methods remain confidential, safeguarding India’s competitive approach for the five-match Test series.
Coming back to Virat Kohli, the star Indian batter will be hoping to come out good in the highly competitive BGT 2024-25. While he was last seen in action in the three-match Test series against New Zealand at home, he failed to make a mark with the bat as he ended up scoring just 93 runs in six innings at an average of 15.50 with just one half-century.
