The Shubman Gill-led side returned to winning ways in the ongoing five-match T20I series after going down in the opening T20I against Zimbabwe. After suffering a 13-run defeat against the Sikandar Raza-led side, Team India, on the back of Abhishek Sharma’s maiden T20I century, won the second T20I by 100 runs to level the series 1-1.
After the much-need victory and the special maiden T20I century from Abhishek Sharma , the 23-year-old didn’t forget to remember his mentor and idol, former Indian cricketer, Yuvraj Singh. Although, he video called his family first, he did give a call to Yuvraj Singh, the 42-year-old who is currently captaining the India Champions in the ongoing World Championships of Legends 2024.
Soon after ringing to him, the former India all-rounder was quick to congratulate Sharma. “I am very proud. You deserve it. Many more to come. This is just the start,” Yuvraj Singh said with Abhishek Sharma quickly responding with a “Thank you paaji”.

Abhishek Sharma’s sister shares video of parents' celebration his maiden century
The 23-year-old, who became the joint third fastest to reach a century for India in T20Is by balls faces after Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, scored his century off 46 deliveries. Soon after reaching his maiden T20I ton, his family brought in the celebrations.
In a video shared by Abhishek Sharma’s sister Komal on social media, Abhishek’s parents were seen celebrating the ton while watching the match on the television. The Indian batter, who plays for SunRisers Hyderabad in IPL, became the first Indian to hit a hundred as early as his second T20I match. He also became the fourth-youngest batter to hit a T20I hundred for India after Yashasvi Jaiswal (21 years and 279 days), Shubman Gill (23 years and 146 days) and Suresh Raina (23 years and 156 days).
