With rain marring a couple of days of the third Test between Australia and India in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Day 5 of the ongoing Gabba Test saw some amusing incident unfold in front the eyes. In the early hours of the opening session, Travis Head and Akash Deep were seen having a brief conversation with the latter on strike in the middle.
The incident took place on the second delivery of the 78th over, which was being bowled by Nathan Lyon. The Aussie spinner bowled a good length delivery which brushed Akash Deep’s pad and then kissed his glove before getting stuck in the flap of his left pad. But just at this moment, Head, who was fielding at forward short leg position came closer to Deep and asked for the ball.
All was well but rather than giving the ball directly into Head’s hand, Akash Deep dropped it on the ground, leaving the former to give a stare at Deep. However, the Indian pacer without much delay, quickly apologised for his act which brought a grin on Head’s face as he collected it from the ground and handed it to his teammate.

Akash Deep’s stay wasn’t long after this incident as he perished in the very next over off Travis Head. Bowling the fifth delivery of the 79th over, Carey disloged the bails as Akash Deep dragged his foot out of the crease. However the replays showed Deep’s feet on the line, but the last man standing, walked off with the Aussie finishing with a lead of 185 runs.
Speaking of the third Test, Australia added 89 runs to their 185-run first innings lead. The hosts declared their second innings at the score of 89/7 in 18 overs, putting 275 runs target for the visitors to clinch the Brisbane Test from here.
