Alyssa Healy-led Australia Women are hosting South Africa in a multi-format series, having clinched the T20I as well as the ODI series. While the hosts one the three-match T20I series by 2-1 margin, the ODI series also concluded with a similar result on Saturday, February 10 at the North Sydney Oval.
In the final ODI of the series, the Aussies won the toss and put the score first. They added 277 runs on the board with an unbeaten 82 from Beth Mooney and a crucial knock from skipper Healy (60). Apart from them, Tahila McGrath (44) and Alana King also played a cameo. However, the latter’s knock was all that caught the limelight as the bowler survived a bizarre dismissal.
Alana was up against Mabata Klaas in the 48th over of the Australian inning. Here the bowler bowled a full toss which King smashed for a six. But in this process, the batter lost her balance and hit the stumps. While the Protean Women started to cheer up at this moment just when the on-field umpire signalled towards a no-ball, leaving the Aussies in a sigh of relief.
