In the ongoing tennis major, the French Open 2024, fans were a witness to Andrey Rublev’s anger and frustration. The Russian tennis player, who took on Matteo Arnaldi in his Round of 32 clash at the Court Suzanne Lenglen on Friday, May 31, saw him lose 7-6, 6-2, 6-4.
The sixth-seeded Russian was involved in another dramatic moment when his lost his composure during the match. After he lost the opening two sets of the match, 7-6(6), 6-2, he was unable to cope up with the scoreline and was seen smashing his racquet on the court. While Arnaldi continued to pile on the pressure, the 26-year-old only broke his racquets, but even kicked his bench in frustration.

This wasn’t the only instance as the Russian earlier also smashed one of his racquets and started shouting on the court after breaking his serve 2-3 in the second set.
He didn’t play his best for sure: Matteo Arnaldi
The 23-year-old Italian, Matteo Arnaldi thanked everyone for coming today for the match as he said, “Merci beaucoup”. He further agreed that Andrey Rublev did not play his best and the 23-year-old’s tactics turned out well.
“It’s incredible. I think I played the nest tennis of my life. To do it for three sets… it’s easy to do it for 2.. but in a slam playing 3 sets at this level.. I wasn’t expecting it.. He didn’t play his best for sure. But I used the right tactic to put him under pressure. Today it worked very well,” Arnaldi said.
