Former Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam once again failed to prove himself as he got dismissed cheaply for 11 runs in the second Test against Bangladesh. This proved to be the fourth consecutive failure for Pakistan’s batting stalwart in the ongoing Test series against their South Asian counterparts. In the previous three innings in the series, Azam managed to score only 0, 22 and 31 runs. Not only this, but Azam’s last Test fifty came 16 innings ago.
Pakistan posted 274 runs in their first innings and maintained a commanding position after they reduced their counterparts to 26/6. However, Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz built a 165-run partnership, which allowed them to post a total of 262, with them trailing only 12 runs behind the hosts’ score. Azam’s recent performances have raised concerns among fans and pundits alike, with his form slump becoming a topic of discussion. Azam’s last Test fifty came in late 2022 and his Test average has taken a dip below 45.
