The UFC 283 co-main event concluded one of the best rivalries of the promotion as Brandon Moreno defeated Deiveson Figueiredo via TKO to win the UFC undisputed flyweight champion. The bout was ended by referee stoppage after the third round when Figueiredo could not open his right eye after taking a massive left hook by Moreno.

After two intense rounds where both fighters managed to throw down significant shots, the third round saw Moreno land the coup de grace to end the bout. With Figueiredo’s right eye closed shut, the doctors had no option but to end the bout. As Moreno became the undisputed flyweight champion, Figueiredo announced that he will be moving up weight classes to bantamweight.

In his post-fight interview, Moreno told UFC commentator Daniel Cormier about how this rivalry and the fight have been extremely emotional. He said, "I definitely understand the people. But the people need to understand that I was just trying to get food for my family. I was trying to be very, very smart and put a lot of my game plan into this fight. I was very emotional in the last fight. I was trying to put a lot of pressure on him this time."
Meanwhile, Figueiredo, announced post-match that he will now compete in the bantamweight division after his four consecutive flyweight title fights against Moreno. He said, "Hopefully I don't have any lasting problems with my eyes," Figueiredo said. "I'm tired of making this weight so that's why I'm moving up."
