On Saturday, May 4, Canelo Alvarez, the Mexican professional boxer, knocked down his compatriot Jaime Munguia in a lopsided championship match at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The 33-year-old went on to defend his WBC, WBO, IBF, and WBA Super Middleweight Championships for the fourth time in a unanimous decision, inflicting the first loss on Jaime Munguia in his boxing career.

In the early stages of the championship match, Canelo Alvarez and Jaime Munguia fought tooth and nail to gain the advantage. The complexion of the bout changed completely in the fourth round when Alvarez landed a stiff uppercut on Munguia.

From this point onwards, Jaime Munguia put on a valiant effort, but he was unable to get any sustained offense to make a comeback. Canelo Alvarez went on to win after 12 rounds on the judges' scorecard 117-110, 116-111, and 115-112.

After the successful championship defense from Canelo Alvarez against his Mexican professional boxing compatriot Jaime Munguia, he got a big hug from Ryan Garcia in the backstage area at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Notably, Canelo Alvarez also clicked for the photographers alongside Gervonta Davis before he defended his four super middleweight championships.

With this big victory, Canelo Alvarez now has 61 wins with 39 KOs, two draws, and two losses in his professional boxing career. He also has a 10-1 record on Cinco De Mayo weekend with his only loss coming versus Dmitry Bivol.
