Just before the second Ashes 2023 test match at Lord's, Mclaren F1 driver Oscar Piastri got a chance to face Australian bowlers Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon in the nets. Piastri has had a decent rookie season as he sits 14th in the Drivers' standings ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix 2023.
Coming back to the net session, Oscar Piastri started off against Lyon with a back-foot shot before playing some drives through the off-side as the duo challenged him to score 12 runs in an over. The Mclaren driver then proceeded to hit Lyon and Strac for a few boundaries and completed the challenge.

Talking about his batting effort, Oscar Piastri spoke about how he has been a huge fan of both players and expressed that he considers himself lucky to get this opportunity. He said, "It's been great to watch them getting ready for the second Test. And lucky enough to face a few balls from Nathan Lyon and Mitch Starc, so um, it's been a really cool day. Seeing, you know, these guys at the top of their game, of course, and getting to know a few of them a bit better as well. So it's been a fun day out."
Further, Piastri talked about how the pitch wasn't favourable for Lyon allowing him to play the off-spinner easily. He said, "Yeah it was really cool. The astroturf not exactly favourable for the spin and Mitch was coming up about half a step I reckon. But very, very cool to have those guys coming at you. I think normally I'd be terrified, but in those circumstances, very, very cool."
