On Sunday, March 2, Rohit Sharma-led Team India is taking on New Zealand in the final league stage match of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Although, the two teams have already secured qualification in the semi-finals of the marquee tournament, the battle is only to finish at the top of the table in the Group A standings which will decide fixtures for the knockout stage.
As the two sides took the field, skipper Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Shubman Gill departed early, scoring just 15 and two runs respectively. Virat Kohli, who took the crease in his 300th ODI match for India after Gill’s departure also could not capitalise as he was dismissed off 11 runs with Glenn Phillips taking a breathtaking catch.
Glenn Phillips produces brilliant fielding effort to dimiss Kohli; leaves the batter in awe
Coming out to bat when the Indian scorecard read 15/1, Kohli’s stay was cut short off Matt Henry’s over. The Kiwi pacer bowled a good length delivery which the Indian batter cut hard and flat. Phillips, who was stationed at short point, outstretched his right hand to grab the ball in what was a quick reaction, which was timed to be 0.62 seconds. The Kiwi batter, who has been producing some scintillating catches throughout the tournament, once again grabbed the eyeballs as he was pictured going horizontal to the ground while completing the catch.

Moreover, the Indian mainstay was also left in shock seeing Phillips’ brilliance and his wife, Anushka Sharma, who was also in attendance was also left shell-shocked. Former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who is currently a part of the commentary panel, also hailed Phillips as the best fielder in the world.
For the unversed, New Zealand had earlier won the toss and elected to field first. While the Kiwis made one change in their lineup, Rohit Sharma-led Team India also made a change in their XI with Varun Chakravarthy replacing Harshit Rana.
