World No.2 Iga Swiatek won her debut China Open title after defeating No.22 Liudmila Samsonova 6-2, 6-2 in Sunday's final to win her tour-leading fifth title of the season. After the title win, Swiatek got extremely emotional and shared this victorious moment with her team. The victory also made Swiatek the first player since Serena Williams to win five or more titles in back-to-back seasons.

The win in Beijing marks Swiatek's 16th career title, as she continues her incredible 2023 with wins at Roland Garros, Doha, Stuttgart and Warsaw. Coming back to the China Open 2023, Swiatek registered a clinical 6-2, 6-2 victory in 69 minutes with some incredible stroke play. But after the match, she hugged her team to celebrate another milestone of the season.

In the post-match interview, Swiatek thanked her team and talked about how she wouldn’t have achieved these wins without her team She said, “Thank you to my team. We all know how hard it is sometimes. I’m really happy I have your support no matter what. I don’t know what I would do without the people around me. I’m pretty grateful.”
Talking about her dream run through the tournament, she lost just one set as she reigned supreme against every opponent. This win also marked her sixth WTA 1000 title, making her the only player to win six or more WTA 1000 titles before turning 23, eclipsing Caroline Wozniacki’s five.
