Joe Root is one of the best batters of this generation. The former England captain has amassed over 10,000 runs in Test cricket and is still going great. While Root relies heavily on conventional cricketing shots to score runs, the English batter has started trying new things as of late. Root has added a scoop shot in his arsenal to deceive bowlers and he is reaping the rewards for it too.

With England playing the ‘Bazball’ brand of cricket, innovative shots are bound to be seen. But a batter like Joe Root entirely changing his grip and stance is something new for cricket fans. However, it seems England are not yet done with doing the undoable in Test cricket. As the Ben Stokes-led team is taking on Pakistan in a Test match in Rawalpindi, Joe Root did something unbelievable.

After scoring a half-century while batting right-handed, Root suddenly changed his grip and batted left-handed as Pakistan spinner Zahid Mahmood came from around the wicket. The former England captain looked in good shape while he was batting left-handed as he swept the spinner pretty fine.

Talking about England's second innings, the opening pair of Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley could not repeat the heroics of the first innings as Duckett was dismissed for a golden duck. However, Crawley scored a half-century and so did Joe Root and Harry Brook. While Crawley was dismissed after scoring 50 (48), Root got out to Zahid Mahmood after scoring a 69-ball 73.

Meanwhile, Pakistan batters did a good job to scored 579 runs before being bowled out. Imam-ul-Haq (121), Abdullah Shafique (114), and Babar Azam (136) scored centuries. Agha Salman also chipped in with a handy 53. For England, Will Jacks bagged six wickets.
