UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones shared footage from home’s security camera to address and clarify the reports of him allegedly threatening a drug tester’s life. A drug-free sport international testing officer accused the UFC fighter of threatening to kill him during his test. The report was filed on Friday, according to which, a drug testing officer visited Jones at his home in New Mexico. The officer claimed that Jones threatened to kill him when he was trying to obtain his sample.
The 36-year-old was quick enough to respond to the accusations and he did so by posting his home’s security footage. According to another report from Officer Crystal Martinez, Jones was not happy when the officers showed up and he said, "Why you f***ing people come so early, do you know what happens to people who come to my house... they end up dead." On the other hand, Jones shared footage, according to which the fighter was seen escorting to their vehicles and giving them high-fives.
He accompanied the video with the caption, “I want to address reports about me allegedly threatening a drug tester’s life and taking a phone, I want to clarify that there is a video showing both drug testers leaving my home after the testing session, where we exchanged a high five and a hug. Although I was frustrated with the unprofessionalism and used profanity out of frustration it ended friendly and amicably, nothing threatening at all. I was actually celebrating a friend’s birthday party at my home, and I believe it’s perfectly normal to celebrate in the comfort of my own home.”
The caption further added, “I must say, this particular tester behaved quite unprofessionally and even breached standard protocol along with HIPAA laws. Throughout my 20 years of being subjected to drug tests, I have never encountered such an incident with a DCO officer before.” Notably, Jones has had multiple issues outside of competitions, including several DUIs and a hit-and-run felony in 2015. He was arrested in 2021 on a charge of domestic violence.
