The 11th edition of the Caribbean Premier League is currently underway and August 27, Sunday saw the fourth doubleheader with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots taking on the Trinbago Knight Riders in the final match of the day. The match saw some blistering performance from the skipper Kieron Pollard saw his side register their first win to take the fourth place in the points table.

Chasing a target of 179 runs, wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran provided a great start after the side lost the two openers in Chadwick Walton and Martin Guptill at 6 and 7 respectively. Pooran continued his run of form from the India series with a knock off 61 off 32 deliveries. Although he wasn’t the sole performer, skipper Kieron Pollard also leashed his firepower, hitting four sixes off Izharulhaq Naveed.
In the 15th over of the Knight Riders’ innings, Pollard smashed a 101m six on the second delivery over the deep mid-wicket. He then unleashed three consecutive sixes on the final three deliveries o the same over to score 26 runs in the over.

Talking about the match, the Kieron Pollard-led side invited the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to bat first. On the back of skipper Sherfane Rutherford’s unbeaten 62, the side put 178 runs on the board in the 20 overs. However, Nicholas Pooran’s 61 off 32 and Kieron Pollard’s unbeaten 37 helped the side register their maiden win in the tournament.
The Trinbago Knight Riders will next take on Barbados Royals in the 13th match on August 30 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
