The IPL 2023 fixture between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers was witness to a horrific incident as LSG captain KL Rahul injured himself while fielding. After winning the toss, RCB decided to bat first and were eyeing to score quick runs.
Then at the end of the second over, Faf du Plessis found a gap towards the offside and in an attempt to stop, KL Rahul made a sprint. But as he neared the ball, the India international expressed visible pain and went down holding on to his right leg. As Rahul was down on the ground LSG support staff brought out a stretcher, but fortunately, he managed to walk off the ground on the shoulders of his teammates.

This injury pushed KL Rahul out for the entirety of the first innings but the LSG bowlers managed to bring the team to a great position as they reduced RCB to the score of 126. But in the second innings, the Super Giants felt the absence of Rahul as they were bundled out at 108 and suffered a crushing 18-run loss.
Addressing this performance and KL Rahul's injury, stand-in captain Krunal Pandya said, "We did pretty well, restricting them to 126 was a great bowling effort. Really happy with how we have bowled in this tournament. We would have taken 126 but batting-wise we did not execute our plans. It is such a sad thing he pulled his hip flexor. I don't know how bad it is, the medical team will assess it."
