Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James remembered his St. Vincent-St. Mary's teammate Dru Joyce III's epic performance in his first high school state championship game. The former Cleveland State Vikings men's team coach has become the new head coach for the Duquesne Dukes Men's basketball team. The Lakers icon congratulated his high school teammate by sharing a clip of his sensational performance.
On March 25, 2000, James carried St. Vincent-St. Mary's to the state title with 25 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Apart from him, 5’2 freshman Dru Joyce III went 7-of-7 from the three-point to register 21 points in eight minutes.

Dru Joyce, who had a 12-year professional playing career in Europe, entered the coaching field in 2019 with his first stint as an assistant coach. Dru left Cleveland State to join the Duquesne Dukes in 2022 as the assistant head coach. In 2024, the 39-year-old basketball coach has been appointed as the head coach of the Duquesne Dukes.
