Former New Zealand cricketer Martin Guptill showed his vintage mode in Southern Super Star jersey, in a match against Konark Suryas Odisha during the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2024 at Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat on Wednesday, November 2. The right-hander smashed 131* runs off 54 balls as Southern Super Star defeated Konark Suryas Odisha by eight wickets. During his swashbuckling knock, Guptill also took charge against fast bowler Navin Stewart as he smashed 34 runs in an over against the former Trinidad and Tobago cricketer.
Chasing a target of 193 runs, Martin Guptill changed gears during the last over of the powerplay, and scored 34 runs in six balls against Navin Stewart. The right-hander smashed consecutive sixes on the first three balls, followed by four on the fourth. Guptill then again smashed back-to-back sixes on the last two balls of the over. With this, Martin Guptill broke his own record of most runs in an over in LLC, after he hit 30 off an over a day before in a match against Manipal Tigers.

Martin Guptill’s fiery ton take Southern Super Stars to fifth straight win in LLC 2024
With the help of Martin Guptill’s hundred, Southern Super Stars registered their fifth straight victory in the ongoing season of the Legends League Cricket (LLC). The Southern side are now at the top of the table with five wins and are yet to lose a match this season. Batting first, Konark Suryas Odisha posted a total of 191/9 in their 20 overs, with Richard Levi top scoring with 63 runs off 21 balls.
Coming to chase the target, Martin Guptil took charge of the innings and smashed 131*(54) with nine fours and 11 sixes. With the help of his knock, Southern Super Stars chased the target in just 16 overs losing two wickets. Pawan Negi was also unbeaten after scoring 14 runs off 11 balls with one six.
