Mumbai Indians debutant Naman Dhir took a brilliant catch to send Rahul Tewatia back to the hut in the clash against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024. MI batter, who played his maiden IPL game on March 24, took a brilliant full-length dive to catch out Tewatia in the last over of Gujarat’s innings. Mumbai Indians, under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, and Gujarat Titans, under the captaincy of Shubman Gill engaged in a fiery battle at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Pandya, who was traded from Gujarat Titans before the IPL 2024 auction, won the toss over his former teammate and invited the hosts to bat first. Gujarat, who came up with a promising batting lineup seemed to have failed against a much lethal bowling lineup of the five-time IPL Champions. Tewatia, who came to bat at seven for the side started his knock on a good note, and just when he was about to find some stability, Dhir’s dive catch tarnished his hopes.

Tewatia was dismissed on the first ball of the last over, bowled by Gerald Coetzee. Tewatia tried his best to swing away the full toss by Coetzee for a maximum. However, the debutant was standing at the deep backward square leg, and he dived full length to take a brilliant catch and end Tewatia’s knock at 22 runs.
Notably, Gujarat posted a 168-run total at the loss of six wickets. Mumbai bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Coetzee scalped a total of five wickets by conceding 41 runs in eight overs.
