On Thursday, March 27, Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered their maiden win of the season in IPL 2025. After winning the toss and inviting their opponents, Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first, the Lucknow-based franchise comfortably chased the 191-run target in 16.1 overs, courtesy a half century from Mitchell Marsh and a 26-ball 70 from Nicholas Pooran.
However, the match had it moments, in the first inning, the star West Indies wicketkeeper-batter caught eyeballs for dropping a key player, Travis Head’s catch. The incident unfolded on the first ball of the sixth over, which was also Ravi Bishnoi’s first over in the match against SRH in IPL 2025.
I’m apologising: Nicholas Pooran apologises to Ravi Bishnoi for dropping Travis Head
However, this dropped catch added signs of worry in the LSG camp, the West Indies batter tried to overpower his mistake after playing a quickfire knock, thus guiding them to a convincing five-wicket win. After LSG’s win, Pooran was heard apologising to the Indian spinner for his mistake.
“I’m apologizing, I dropped your catch. Of who? Of Travis. I am really, really sorry. You should be sorry. I hope it doesn’t happen again,” Pooran can be heard saying. However, Head was playing on 35 runs at that moment, his inning was cut short by Prince Yadav in the eighth over. On the other hand, Pooran went onto to break into record books as he slammed the fastest fifty by balls this season, breaching the 50-run mark off 18 deliveries.
The Lucknow Super Giants will next take on Punjab Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 1, the Sunrisers Hyderabad will travel to Visakhapatnam to play against Delhi Capitals, scheduled to be held on Sunday, March 30.
