On August 1, Tuesday, Pakistan hockey team arrived in India through the Attari-Wagah Border to take part in the Asian Champions Trophy. The seventh edition of this prestigious men’s hockey tournament will be played at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in the city of Chennai from August 3 to 12.
India and Pakistan are the best-performing teams in this tournament since it was first organised by the Asian Hockey Federation in 2011, winning it twice each, while sharing one trophy, due to a rained-out final in Muscat, Oman in 2018. The defending champions from 2021 are South Korea, who defeated Japan in a penalty shootout in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

ANI posted the video of the Pakistan hockey team’s arrival to India, on their official Twitter account earlier today. According to a report in the Indian Express, the former Asian Champions Trophy winners will be flying into Chennai from Amritsar later tonight on August 1.

It was further reported that Team India had landed in Chennai earlier on Tuesday morning, while they will be training at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium tomorrow, before their tournament opener against China on August 4. On the other side, Pakistan will also be training at the venue on the same day as the hosts.
Moreover, the 2023 edition of the Asian Champions Trophy will be a round-robin tournament with six national teams competing against each other, namely the hosts India, Pakistan, Japan, China, South Korea, and Malaysia. The most sought-after clash between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan is set to take place on August 9 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium.
