South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock produced a brilliant run-out using the presence of his mind to dismiss India's Axar Patel in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final. After winning the toss, Men in Blue started well with the bat but lost quick wickets, bringing the Proteas back into the contest.
Struggling at 34-3, Axar Patel came out to bat and steadied the ship with Virat Kohli. The duo evaded the pressure created by South Africa and reduced India from a batting collapse. Patel and Kohli's partnership went up to 72 and both players were looking to accelerate.

In the 14th over, Virat Kohli missed a back-of-the-length delivery which hit his thigh pad and rolled towards De Kock. Kohli and Axar went for a run but quickly aborted the call. Though the Indian opener made his ground, Patel was still out of the crease when the South African gloveman sent out a perfect throw which hit the stumps and ran out the spin-bowling all-rounder at a score of 47 in 31 balls.
At the toss, Rohit Sharma spoke about India's approach in this final and revealed how the team will focus on performing the players have been given. Sharma said, "Just about understanding individual roles, I know it's a big occasion but it's important to remain calm and play it like it's another international game against a good team."
"South Africa have played some good cricket but so have we. It's going to be a really good game between two quality teams. Different individuals have stepped up at different times and that's what we're looking forward to today as well.
