Shreyas Iyer ended the 12-year drought after he led Kolkata Knight Riders to their third title in IPL 2024. However, despite being the winning captain, Iyer wasn’t retained by KKR before the IPL 2025 mega auction and the franchise also didn’t bid for him in the mega auction. Ramandeep Singh, who among the six retained players for KKR, revealed some shocking details where he disclosed Shreyas used to ignore management’s advice and make his own decisions during his tenure as KKR skipper.

In his podcast with Raj Shamani on YouTube, which was uploaded on March 22, Ramandeep Singh said that even after getting instruction from the management, Shreyas Iyer used to do what he thought was the best. “We used to get instructions from outside, but whatever he (Shreyas) felt was right, we have to do this, he used to go and do it. The self belief he had is very good,” Ramandeep said in a podcast.
