Star Kolkata Knight Riders batter Rinku Singh is known for smashing big sixes and his fiery batting. Apart from that, Rinku also has multiple tattoos on his hand, with each one carrying a different meaning. Recently, the 27-year-old revealed the back story behind two of his tattoos ‘God’s plan’ and '2:20.'
Speaking on Knight Bite along with chef Kunal Kapoor on YouTube, Rinku Singh revealed the reason behind his 2:20 tattoo. He revealed that it represents the time when KKR picked him for INR 80 Lakh in the IPL 2018 auction. The 27-year-old also called it a life changing moment. “When I was picked by KKR in 2018 for 80 Lakh, that amount was huge for me and my family. We didn't have much money before that. My family's life changed completely. My siblings' marriages became easier, and we even bought a house with that money,” Rinku Singh said.
“That's why I got this tattoo with the family written here. It was exactly 2:21 or 2:20 when I was picked, and everything changed from that moment," he further added.
In my first match, I was bit worried: Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh recalled the time when he got to play his first-ever game for India in 2023. After a breakthrough season in IPL 2023, Rinku got an India call-up and made his debut for Men in Blue in a match against Ireland in Malahide on August 18, 2023. He didn’t get a chance to bat in that game. However, in the very next match, Rinku scored a quickfire 38 runs off 21 balls and was adjudged player of the match.
"When you play for India, and you achieve what you started playing cricket for, you do feel a bit anxious. In my first match, I didn't get to bat, just fielding, and it was raining too, so I was a bit worried. But after a little bit of time, everything became normal,” Rinku Singh said.
