Early on Sunday, June 23, the Rohit Sharma-led Team India continued their winning streak in the T20 World Cup 2024 as they defeated Bangladesh by 50 runs at the Sir Vivian Richards National Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. After their comprehensive win against their near neighbours, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant shared a hilarious meme post on Instagram, featuring the likes of MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Often reckoned as the three pillars of the Indian cricket team, with MS Dhoni being the only captain to get three ICC titles for the Men in Blue, the Indian trio was seen dancing on a popular Bollywood song. The wicketkeeper-batter, who returned after escaping a horrific accident in December 2022, uploaded a screen recording of a post made by a fan. However, it seemed more of an AI generated video, the three stalwarts were seen dancing on the song “Barso re megha” from the movie Guru.

Notably, the 26-year-old took a light-hearted take on this but also apologised to the three senior players in the caption. “Good win 😂😂 ❤️❤️❤️ . Sorry saare bhaiya logo ko 🥹🥹😁😁😁 I had to post this amazing video. Thanks who made this my first screen recording 🫡”.

Speaking of India’s match against Bangladesh, the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side won the toss and invited the Men in Blue to put the score first on the board. On the back of a good start by the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who added 23 and 37 runs respectively, India added a good score in the powerplay overs. Rishabh Pant also scored a 24-ball 36, while Shivam Dube added 34 runs. But it was all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten 50 that helped eventually post 196 runs on the board.

Bangladesh, in pursuit of the 197-run target, were restricted to 146/8 in their allotted 20 overs. While Litton Das added 13 runs, Tanzid Hasan scored a 31-ball 29. But it was their skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, who scored a 32-ball 40 to help get to a decent score, but eventually fell short by 50 runs.

As the battle for the semifinals get intense, Team India will take on Australia at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia on Monday, June 24. Meanwhile, Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan, who are coming after registering a historic win over Australia, on Tuesday, June 25 at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent.
