The fifth T20I between India vs South Africa ended as a disappointment for the fans as the game was called off because of heavy rain in Bangalore. But this dissatisfaction was more for India captain Rishabh Pant as he lost the toss for the 5th consecutive time. South Africa captain Keshav Maharaj won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Rishabh Pant looked extremely shocked at his luck at the toss and started laughing. He tapped Maharaj on the back and looked at the Indian team dugout in dismay. The Men in Blue had a great start with Ishan Kishan hitting big sixes but lost two wickets in quick succession. India was 28-2 in 3.3 overs when the game was called off.

This is the first time I have lost so many tosses, but it is not in my control: Pant

In the post-match interview, Rishabh Pant talked about how he is trying to improve as a player and captain. He then addressed the toss situation and expressed that it is something not in his control. He said, “There are a lot of positives. The way the team showed character from 0-2 down was a huge positive. We are in a nice spot as we are finding different ways to win the game. I can only think about giving my 100% as a player and captain.”

“It is for you guys to decide on how I am doing as a player and captain, I can only focus on giving my 100% every time I go on the field and keep improving. This is the first time I have lost so many tosses, but it is not in my control. We will be keen to win the Test we are going to play in England and from a personal point of view, I am keen to contribute more to the team with the bat”, Rishabh Pant added.
