India captain Rohit Sharma played a brilliant knock against Sri Lanka as the batter scored 72 runs off 41 balls before perishing to Chamika Karunaratne. Sharma hit five boundaries and four sixes in his inning. Three of Rohit’s sixes came on the on-side and one of them also hit one of the security personnel at the stadium.

On the first ball off the 10th over, Rohit hit a fabulous pull shot against Asitha Fernando. The batter timed his shot perfectly and the ball travelled way over the deep square leg boundary. It then hit a security guard who was standing facing the opposite direction of the ground. The ball hit the man on his back. The video of the incident went viral on social media as one of the users wrote “Keep your eyes on the ball when Hitman is in such form” while sharing the video.

Rohit exhibits perfect temperament

Coming back to Rohit’s innings, it was a perfect balance of aggression and defence. The Indian captain kept his cool even though India lost two early wickets. Notably, India lost KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in the first three overs itself. While Rahul was downed by Maheesh Theekshana, Kohli perished while slogging to Dilshan Madushanka.

Nevertheless, Rohit continued with his aggressive approach and kept scoring boundaries. He reached his half-century in 32 balls and continued with the onslaught after that. He eventually perished while trying to hit Karunaratne over extra cover.
