Pakistan pacer Salman Irshad who is a part of the St Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League 2023, stole the limelight during the game against Jamaica Tallawahs on August 16. In the opening game of the league, Irshad’s unorthodox bowling style created a buzz and reminded fans of the Sri Lanka legend Lasith Malinga

In the inaugural game of the tournament, while Tallawahs' Brandon King shone with his brilliant 81-run inning, the young Pakistani pacer made it to headlines with his resemblance with Malinga. In his maiden CPL game, the 27-year-old picked two wickets in his spell. Irshad sent back Roston Chase at 53 and Matthew Forde, while the batter was batting at four runs.

While the player was applauded for getting two crucial wickets for his side, the Rawalkot-born gained limelight for his style of bowling that resembled former Sri Lanka player Lasith Malinga. The bowling action that sent fans on a nostalgia trip garnered attention from cricket lovers in huge numbers.

Speaking of the tournament, St Lucia Kings sit on the top of the standings with one win in their account. On the other hand, Barbados Royals, who lost one of the two matches sit at the bottom of the points table.
