Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan was seen helping the Kolkata Knight Riders' wicket-keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz after the Afghan international got himself in an awkward situation. Opening the innings, Dhawan held one end for the Kings as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

The Indian veteran was gradually increasing his scoring rate and was taking on every Kolkata bowler. Taking on  Varun Chakaravarthy in the 13th over,  Shikhar Dhawan had to settle for a dot ball on the first ball. Then on the second delivery,  Dhawan attempted a sweep shot which went down the ground. In an attempt to stop this delivery, the ball hit him in his groin and hence on the ground in pain. Helping him out of this agony,  Shikhar Dhawan intervened.

After this incident,  Rahmanullah Gurbaz had a moment of celebration as held on to an extremely difficult catch to dismiss an in-form Jitesh Sharma at the score of 21 off 18 balls with two sixes. Then other KKR bowlers also stepped as they managed to restrict Punjab Kings at the score of 179.

The star performer of the innings, Varun  Chakaravarthy, who spoke about how taking his pace off helped him extract a lot more turn from the wicket.  He said, "What I would like to say is, definitely if you take pace off the ball, it is holding a bit. But after the 12th over, it was not holding and turning that much. The wicket is getting a little flatter. That’s what in our mind and 180 is par. Thank you so much, good match for us, important match for us, happy to contribute for the team."
