Terence Crawford, the American boxing superstar, defeated Israil Madrimov of Uzbekistan by unanimous decision to become the new World Boxing Association (WBA) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Super Welterweight champion on Saturday night, August 3. At the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, the 36-year-old made his debut in the super-welterweight division, getting the better of the undefeated Israel Madrimov.

Notably, Terence Crawford (40-0) moved up to 154 pounds for the first time in his boxing career, to challenge Israil Madrimov (10-0-1) for multiple titles. They fought for 12 rounds in the main event of the DAZN PPV card, following which the three judges scored the contest 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 in favour of Crawford against Madrimov.

With this big triumph, Terence Crawford extended his winning streak in professional boxing to 41.

During the post-match interview inside the squared circle, Terence Crawford addressed the potential of a super fight against Canelo Alvarez. He said, “You know what they say, if the money's right, we've got a fight. But at the same time, he's got a fight that he's focused on [ Edgar Berlanga on September 14]. I'm going to go back to my family, relax, enjoy this win and the accomplishments I've made in boxing.”

When Crawford was pressed again in regard to taking on Alvarez in the near future, he responded, “It's not so important to me, it's just another milestone towards greatness, and financially wise.”
