The concept of sports-based movies is growing in India and Bollywood has come up with some major blockbuster hits in this genre in the last few years. Movies like MS Dhoni - The Untold Story, Chaalaang, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mary Kom, Dangal, Sultan etc. have got a terrific response from the public which has motivated the producers and directors of the film industry to come up with more stories in this niche genre.
Cricket is undoubtedly the most beloved sport in the country and when there is a readymade story around it which has won so many accolades, it is only a matter of time since it transforms into a Bollywood movie. Something very similar has taken place with the upcoming Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Jersey' which is notably the re-make of a similar title from Telugu film industry.
Notably, the movie won the award for 'Best Feature Film - Telugu' in the National Film Awards 2021 which speaks volumes about the success of the story. The Hindi version of the same is also written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, featuring actors Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, Ronit Kamra and Pankaj Kapur in lead roles. The trailer was launched on November 23, Tuesday and it has just left everyone in awe.

What is the plot of movie?
The movie is about a 36-year-old cricketer who had stopped playing the sport 10 years back. However, despite his age, he now wishes to make a return on the field. The relationship with his son, his wife, his coach and the sport of cricket is what will make it a roller-coaster ride for the viewers. The trailer beautifully depicts how the love for games can sometimes go beyond imaginable boundaries.
The movie is all set to release on December 31 and cricket lovers across the country are now keenly waiting to experience an emotional and inspirational journey of a cricketer.
