The Men in Blue posted 306/7 in the first innings after being invited to bat first in the first ODI against New Zealand. While stand-in skipper Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, all scored half-centuries, Sanju Samson & Washington Sundar also played quick cameos in their sho r t stay in the middle.
Talking about the two debutants, Umran Malik scalped his first ODI wicket, dismissing Devon Conway at the score of 24, & then picked his second wicket in Daryl Mitchell. However, Arshdeep is yet to bag his first wicket with six overs still left for him.
Although the wicket was a crucial one, the celebration was the one which caught the attention. On the fifth delivery of the 19th over, Malik bowled a quick and wide outside off, which Mitchell smashed over deep point. Hooda, who was stationed at deep & was safe under the ball as he gave the young player his second scalp.
The wicket was well celebrated by the bowler, replicating Shikhar Dhawan’s ‘thigh-five’ celebration. The video of this unseen celebration has now gone viral on the internet.
