Indian batting icon Virat Kohli bowed down to Sachin Tendulkar as he celebrated his 50th ODI ton during India's semi-final clash against New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023 in Mumbai. The batter took 106 deliveries to complete his 50th century in the 50-over format. India are locking horns with New Zealand in the first semifinal of the ongoing ICC tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Coming to bat at third after India lost their skipper Rohit Sharma at 47 runs, the 35-year-old cricketer smashed nine boundaries and one maximum to add another feather to his hat. After completing his century, Kohli knelt down on the ground before taking off his helmet and gloves to bow down to Sachin Tendulkar.
With this century, Kohli broke the record of former Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar, who had scored 49 ODI tons. Earlier, the ex-captain had scored his 49th ODI century during India’s league stage clash with South Africa in the tournament. Notably, Kohli took 279 innings for his 50th ton, which also included 71 half centuries. Later, the young batter got dismissed at 117 runs in 113 deliveries off a Tim Southee delivery.
