WATCH: Virat Kohli does damages Chepauk Stadium's branding with a six ahead of first Test against Bangladesh

Star Indian batter and former captain, Virat Kohli has been preparing hard on his return to Test cricket. The 35-year-old, took to nets to prepare for the first Test against Bangladesh, which is scheduled to start from September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Ahead of the series opener, Kohli did some damage to the Chepauk Stadium in the training sessions.

The Indian stalwart will feature in his first Test after he missed the Test series against England due to the birth of his son, Akaay Kohli. Although he is expected to play a key role, a glimpse of his hitting was seen in one of the net sessions at Chepauk as he did break a part of the branding with a powerful hit. 

Kohli padded up to face local net bowlers along with India’s Assistant Coach, Abhishek Nayar. As he was seen timing the ball imperiously, one of his shots carved a hole in one of the branding areas at the stadium, video of which is making rounds on social media. The 35-year-old smashed a powerful six that broke one of areas at Chepauk near the Indian dressing room.

Earlier in one of the net sessions, Virat Kohli was seen hitting his trademark pull shot, while other batters, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, among others were also seen bringing up their best game. Apart from Virat Kohli, Indian pacer, Jasprit Bumrah was also seen practising his skills ahead of the two-match Test series. 

India to begin two-match Test series against Bangladesh from September 19

The Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue will return to action after a month-long break. The side last featured in a white-ball series against Sri Lanka in July - August. While they won the T20I series under their new skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, India were handed a defeat in the ODI series. But with the new season, they will aim to keep their past at bay and come out good as they begin their home season.
