Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting icon Virat Kohi was seen having a cordial moment with former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Suresh Raina, ahead of the high-octane game between the two South Indian rival sides at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. RCB, who kicked off their campaign with an emphatic victory over defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), are taking on CSK in their second game of the competition. The Challengers’ record has been disheartening in Chennai as they haven’t won any game at the venue after their victory against the Yellow Army in the inaugural IPL edition played in 2008. However, forgetting the numbers, the visitors will strive to play quality cricket to emerge victorious in the ongoing contest.
Prior to the huge match, Kohli was seen practising on the ground. Raina, who is a part of the commentary panel, headed towards the 36-year-old. After spotting his former Team India colleague, Kohli shook hands with him and also shared a hug. Both batting legends played a lot of cricket for India until 2018 and delivered several match-winning moments to ardent fans of their national side. The duo also won the World Cup 2011 together under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.
Kohli gets dismissed after playing lethargic innings against CSK
Kohli struggled to score runs at a swift pace for Bengaluru while opening the innings. Along with his opening ally Phil Salt, he stitched a 45-run stand for the first wicket but it was the England batter, who accumulated quick runs on the board with his 32-run inning off 16 balls. The star India player chipped in with only 10 runs in the partnership after facing 14 balls.
He stood at the crease until the 13th over of the game and contributed only 31 runs from his bat in 30 balls. Noor Ahmad got him caught at the hands of Rachin Ravindra, who was deployed at deep mid-wicket. After Kohli’s departure, captain Rajat Patidar, Jitesh Sharma and Tim David batted courageously and helped RCB deliver a target 197 runs to the home team.
