Indian cricket team, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, are set to begin their Asia Cup 2023 campaign on September 2, Saturday. The seven-time Asia Cup winners will lock horns with their arch-rivals Pakistan in a high-voltage game in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Ahead of the most awaited encounter of the continental showpiece, Indian captain Rohit Sharma addressed the media and said that India doesn’t have the fast-bowling trio of Pakistan to train them in the nets.

The Indian skipper was asked how the Indian team prepared to face the attack of Pakistan, to which he replied that the team didn’t have the lethal trio to train them, and they practised with the experience they had. Sharma said, “We don’t have Shaheen (Shaheen Shah Afridi), Rauf (Haris Rauf) and Naseem (Naseem Shah) to train us in the nets. We practised with the bowlers we have. All three of them are quality bowlers and have been performing really well for Pakistan since the last few years.”

Sharma, who is known as Hitman among fans, added, “Pakistan have always had quality bowlers. We have seen how they bowl. Since we have played for some years, we will use the experience to play against them.”

Speaking of the tournament, the Indian team is placed in Group A of the tournament alongside Pakistan and Nepal. The season began with the hosts, Pakistan, locking horns with the debutants, Nepal, in a lop-sided game. The Men in Green, under the captaincy of Babar Azam took down Rohit Paudel’s boys by 238 runs.
