Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag ended his feud with winger Jadon Sancho, who was loaned off to German club Borussia Dortmund after calling out the Dutchman for his criticisms. Ten Hag and Man United had a disappointing 2023-24 season which ended on a high as the club won the FA Cup after beating arch-rivals Manchester City in the final.
But before the trophy, the club experienced countless difficult moments one of which was the fallout between Sancho and Ten Hag as the Dutch manager called out the 25-year-old's poor performances in training when he wasn't picked into the squad for a Premier League game against Arsenal. After those comments, Sancho took to social media to slam the manager.
We have drawn that line and we move on: Ten Hag on Sancho
But ahead of the 2024-25 season, Erik ten Hag said, “As we said, we've drawn the line. Manchester United needs good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on.” Further questioned on whether the truce with Sancho represented a fresh start, Ten Hag added, “We've drawn the line. We move on.”
The performance was below standard: Ten Hag on loss vs Rosenborg BK
The Manchester United manager also spoke after losing the first pre-season game 0-1 against Norwegian club Rosenborg BK. Erik ten Hag said, "The result is not secondary. We play pre-season but at Manchester United, there's a standard."
"You win games. Definitely, you don't lose games. If you can't win, don't lose the game as we did at the end, the last second of the game. The performance is more important. The performance was below standard," he continued.
