Australia have found themselves in a commanding position against India in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at The Gabba in Brisbane. In reply to Australia’s first innings total of 445 runs, India have lost four wickets at 51 runs by the end of day three with 394 runs short from Australia. Now, the fans and expert have also been debating about the possibility of Australia enforcing a follow-on to India.
However, Australia’s spearhead fast bowler Mitchell Starc revealed that the hosts have few more cards to use when asked about enforcing follow-on to India in the ongoing Test match. “Yeah, I mean at 4 for 50, we hold a few more cards than they do. So yeah, certainly that. You know, the two days of no bowling to start the Test match plays a part in that with back-to-back Tests,” Starc was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
Tomorrow’s going to dictate what happens: Mitchell Starc
India now rely on KL Rahul and skipper Rohit Sharma to make a big partnership on day four and avoid Australia to take a big lead in the first innings. Rahul is looking set with an unbeaten 33*(64), while Rohit is yet to score his first run on day four. Speaking further, Mitchell Starc said that Australia will look to take early wickets on day four and bowl in the right areas. The Australian fast bowler hopes to bowl out India early to enforce follow-on.
There is plenty in the wicket, tomorrow’s going to dictate what happens If we can get the ball hit the right areas, and take a few early ones, that obviously brings in the extra card of the follow-on,”
