Kylian Mbappe, the captain of France, was excluded from the national team by head coach Didier Deschamps for the UEFA Nations League matches against Israel and Belgium during the ongoing international break, for allowing him to get “100 percent fit.” Since then, Kylian Mbappe has been severely criticised by some of the former players and fans, but his teammate Welsey Fofana defended him and said, “He does what he wants,” after the 25-year-old reportedly paid a visit to a nightclub in Stockholm during France’s 4-1 win over Israel.
At the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, France earned their second win in League A Group 2 of the UEFA Nations League by putting four goals past Israel, to stay in second place behind Italy. Eduardo Camavinga, Christopher Nkunku, Matteo Guendouzi, and Bradley Barcola found their names on the scoresheet for the French national football team, while for the Israelis, Omri Gandelman scored the single solitary goal on the night.
Mbappe going to Sweden? Everyone does what they want in their free time: Wesley Fofana
When the French defender, Wesley Fofana, was asked about Kylian Mbappe going to a nightclub in Stockholm during their match against Israel in Lyon, he responded, as per the GOAL website, “Mbappe going to Sweden? Everyone does what they want in their free time. It’s not a topic of discussion. It isn't something we [the France squad] have talked about today, I hadn't heard about this story.”
After wondering about the whereabouts of Kylian Mbappe, it didn’t take much time for Wesley Fofana came in defence of his teammate and said, “He does what he wants; he is a great guy and a great professional. Are we making too much of it? I don't know. He's the best French player, so it's normal that it is very publicised. I think that from time to time [the media] go a little too far. You should ask Kylian Mbappé for more information.”
Moreover, with Kylian Mbappe not being part of the French squad to take on Belgium in their next UEFA Nations League clash, he is expected to return to training with Real Madrid before the next weekend of club games.
