WBBL 2023-24: Melbourne Strikers beat Sydney Sixers by 2 runs in opener
Australia and Melbourne Strikers captain Meg Lanning scored 55 runs off just 34 balls with eight fours and one six to help her side post a total of 165 runs. On the other hand, Sydney Sixers skipper Ashleigh Gardner displayed an all-round performance by picking up two wickets in her four-over-23-run spell and scored 72-off-44 with nine fours and two sixes. Despite Gardner's impressive performance, last year's runners-up lost the match by two runs.
