Team India continued their winning run in the ongoing ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 as they defeated Bangladesh on Thursday at the MCA Stadium in Pune by seven wickets. Despite the victory, India remain in the second spot in the standings behind New Zealand due to the latter's better run rate. On the other hand, the Women's Big Bash League 2023-24 has also started with last year's runners-up Sydney Sixers losing to Melbourne Stars in the opener on Thursday.

After beginning the CWC 2023 on a losing note, Australia finally registered their first win in the ODI World Cup 2023 in their last match against Sri Lanka and will look to continue on the winning ways when they face Pakistan in their next match on Friday. The second match of the Women's Big Bash League 2023-24 is scheduled between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades at the Junction Oval on Friday at 09:30 a.m. IST. WBBL 2023-24: Hobart Hurricanes vs Perth Scorchers
The tournament's third match will be played between Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers at the University of Tasmania Stadium on Friday at 01:40 p.m. IST. Australian batter Elyse Villani is the captain of Hobart while New Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine leads the Scorchers in the WBBL 2023-24.

However, the Player of the Match was Virat Kohli, who scored his first century in the ongoing tournament and helped India win the game by seven wickets with 51 balls remaining.

WBBL 2023-24: Melbourne Strikers beat Sydney Sixers by 2 runs in opener
Australia and Melbourne Strikers captain Meg Lanning scored 55 runs off just 34 balls with eight fours and one six to help her side post a total of 165 runs. On the other hand, Sydney Sixers skipper Ashleigh Gardner displayed an all-round performance by picking up two wickets in her four-over-23-run spell and scored 72-off-44 with nine fours and two sixes. Despite Gardner's impressive performance, last year's runners-up lost the match by two runs.

Gujarat, Kerala, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jharkhand, and Vidarbha are the nine teams who are unbeaten in the SMAT 2023. The window for the five franchises to retain players for the TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 season came to an end on October 15, 2023. While 60 players, including 21 overseas cricketers, were retained across five franchises, 29 players were released from their existing squads.
