The first Test match of the three-match series between South Africa and India got underway on Boxing Day, December 26 at the SuperSport Park, Centurion. While India won the toss and opted to bat first on a wicket that had something in it for the bowlers and it had also rained the previous night, the Indian openers made sure that they proved their captain's decision right by putting on a hundred-run stand for the opening wicket.
They did lose two wickets in quick succession in the middle with Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara getting out on two consecutive deliveries. However, after the end of Day 1, India wouldn't be too anxious since KL Rahul's hundred and a stand between him and Virat Kohli followed by a partnership between the vice-captain on this tour and Ajinkya Rahane allowed the Men in Blue to finish the day on a high.
With the weather also expected to play a part further in the Test match, here is a look at what the weather prediction looks like for Day 2.
Will rain play spoilsport on Day 2 of the opening Test match between South Africa and India?
As per the weather predictions for December 27, 2021, the lowest temperature expected on December 27 is 16 Degree Celsius with the highest being around 19 Degree. It is likely to be cloudy for much of the day with even thunderstorms predicted at certain hours of the day.
Day 2 Weather forecast for Centurion Test
Meanwhile, India have ended Day 1 at 272/3 with Rahul unbeaten on 122 along with Ajinkya Rahane who many thought wasn't the right choice in the XI given his string of low scores in the recent innings. However, even Rahane has looked good so far in what is a huge match in the context of his Test career and will resume his innings on 40* on Day 2. Agarwal and Kohli chipped in with scores of 60 and 35 respectively while Pujara got out for a golden duck.
Lungi Ngidi was the only successful bowler for South Africa, picking all the three Indian wickets to fall on the opening day.
