The popularity of cricket continued to soar in the year 2023, with the ODI World Cup and the franchise T20 tournaments all over the world taking centre stage. Many top cricketers were in the limelight among the fans, but a report from the search engine Google revealed that youngster Rachin Ravindra was the most searched in 2023.
Rachin Ravindra, the New Zealand-born cricketer of Indian descent, reached the top of the search list on Google in 2023 after a stellar ODI World Cup campaign. He played ten matches in the flagship tournament, scoring 578 runs at an average of 64.22 and a strike rate of 106.45 with three hundreds and two fifties, to make the cricketing fraternity notice his quality as a top-order batter.

The 24-year-old also bowled in a few matches of the CWC 2023, picking up five wickets while conceding runs at an economy of less than six in the part-time role. Although New Zealand bowed out of the flagship tournament after losing the semi-final to India, the left-handed batter is still getting a lot of attention from cricket fans worldwide.
Notably, the U-19 World Cups in 2016 and 2018 with New Zealand were the tournaments where Rachin Ravindra got himself noticed for the first time. He made his international debut for New Zealand in September 2021 during a five-match T20I series against Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, just behind Rachin Ravindra in the most searched cricketers list on Google in 2023 is Shubman Gill from India. The 24-year-old has had a stellar year in the sport, scoring big runs in all three formats for the national team, apart from dominating the IPL with Gujarat Titans.
