In the opening match of the 2025 season of the SA20 League, Delano Potgieter took a five-wicket haul, helping MI Cape Town defeat defending two-time champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape by a massive margin of 97 runs. At the St George’s Park in Gqeberha, MI Cape Town batted exceptionally after being put into bat first, to score a very competitive total of 174/7 in their allotted overs, with an much-needed fifty from Dewald Brevis, coupled by late order runs from Delano Potgieter himself.

Before hitting the headlines in the SA20 League last night with the ball, Delano Potgieter has been more of a batter throughout his domestic career for Gauteng and the Lions. He has exceptional stats in First-Class cricket, while his numbers in List A and T20s aren’t too shabby either, which makes him more than worthy of being called an all-rounder player, contributing with vital runs and wickets in crucial matches.

At the start of the third edition of the SA20 League, Delano Potgieter has not only given MI Cape Town the best possible start, but also set a benchmark to emulate himself throughout the tournament.
