The Punjab Kings are hosting table-toppers Rajasthan Royals in the match 27 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. While Sanju Samson-led side sitting at the top of the table with four wins from five games, the PBKS are reeling in bottom half of the table with just two wins so far in the tournament.
As the two skippers took the field for the toss, it was England and PBKS all-rounder Sam Curran who took the field, replacing Shikhar Dhawan at the helm in the ongoing clash. The stand-in skipper of the side at toss confirmed that Dhawan misses out due to a niggle with Jitesh Sharma fulfilling the vice-captain duties.
“Shikhar picked up a niggle, that’s why I’m here. We would have bowled first as well, but we’ll now have to put runs on the board. The balance has been good, we’d have liked to win a few more games, but the middle-order look good, especially Shashank and Ashutosh. We’ve got exciting players and plenty of quality. We’ve Atharva Taide coming in Shikhar tonight, Livingstone is back as well,” Curran said at the toss.
