England debutant Shoaib Bashir took the charge in the 102nd over. While Jaiswal tonked it over square leg on the first delivery of the over, he reached his double century with a four off Bashir’s full toss on pads. Soon after reaching his maiden 200*, the left-handed batter jumped and punched in air to celebrate this knock.
With a double ton, Jaiswal became the third youngest to reach the milestone at the age of 22 years and 37 days. He is third only behind Vinod Kambli (21 years and 32 days), who scored in 1993 against England at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and Sunil Gavaskar (21 years and 283 days), who reached this feat against West Indies in 1971 in Port of Spain. He took over Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi on the list, who scored a double ton at the age of 23 years and 34 days.
