Two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar was on the run since the death of 23-year-old Sagar Dhankar, former junior national wrestling champion, at Chhatrasal Stadium. As per reports, the wrestler along with his associates was involved in a deadly brawl earlier this month with the victim, who was living at Sushil's residence near the stadium. Weeks after the incident, the Indian wrestler was arrested on Sunday morning by a team of Delhi Police Special Cell in connection with the wrestler's murder case.
Earlier, Delhi police had announced ₹1 lakh reward on any information leading to his arrest. Additionally, Delhi police had been conducting raids in Delhi-NCR and neighbouring states to get hold of the wrestler.
The Olympic champion and his associate Ajay Kumar were arrested by the Delhi Police on Sunday morning. The video featuring Sushil Kumar has now gone viral on internet as it was the first visuals of his arrest. The wrestler could be seen covering his face and surrounded by the Delhi Police Special Cell.

The police had already recorded statements of some people allegedly involved in the deadly brawl. They confirmed that the wrestler was present at the spot when the clash took place. Police groups from the states of Punjab and Haryana had been on excessive alert for the past few days for Sushil Kumar.
Meanwhile, a Delhi court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Sushil and 6 others. Additionally, the court had issued a look-out-circular against the wrestler. “We have recorded the statements of all the victims and they all named Sushil Kumar,” mentioned the Additional DCP (North-West district) Dr Guriqbal Singh Sidhu as quoted by The Indian Express.
