It's almost been a week that the Indian Premier League 2021 was indefinitely suspended. This has definitely left fans in despair because it was their only dose of entertainment in these difficult circumstances. Although BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Sunday confirmed that the remainder of the IPL 2021 will not take place in India, seeing the condition in the country after the second wave of COVID-19 outbreak.

Why Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar miss out from India's WTC final squad?

India is all set to tour to UK for the World Test Championship final scheduled to take place in June. The Selection Committee on Friday announced India's squad which will be touring to UK for the WTC final, followed by 5-match Test series against England. Although, big names like Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been excluded from the 20-member squad. According to a BCCI source, Hardik Pandya's change in bowling action after undergoing back surgery has affected his shoulder, which will be looked into by the officials. Moreover, BCCI feels that all three, including Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar need to be fit for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

India to play 3 ODIs, 5 T20Is against Sri Lanka in July

On Sunday, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly confirmed that India will play a limited-overs series against Sri Lanka in July. However, the squad for the Sri Lanka series is yet to be announced by the board, the limited-overs specialist squad for the Sri Lanka tour might include Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar, Deepak Chahar, Yuzi Chahal, Suryakumar Yadav. BCCI wants them to move to Sri Lanka early, keeping in mind the quarantine protocols.

In a statement to PTI explaining the reason behind the tour, a source mentioned, "The BCCI President is very keen that all our top players are match ready and since England doesn't have a white ball leg the month of July can be utilized well."

The dates of the matches are not yet confirmed as Sri Lanka's white-ball series against England will come to an end on July 4.
