Indian skipper Rohit Sharma recently completed a glorious 15 years in international cricket. Rohit is widely recognised as one of the best batters amongst the current generation. Although Sharma has had his share of struggles in the longest format of the game, there are only a few players that can match his skills in white-ball cricket.

Although the Indian skipper has been termed as one of the most successful leaders in the Indian Premier League, Rohit had a dreadful 15th season as he failed to perform with the bat.

Five-time champions finished at the bottom of the points table for the first time, and skipper Rohit Sharma could only manage to score just 248 runs at an average of 19.14 in 14 outings. However, IPL is now over and the Indian skipper is ready to resume his national duties with a one-off pending Test match against England being his first assignment in the longest format since his appointment as a skipper.

In the latest development, former Indian skipper Kapil Dev has asked tough questions to Rohit Sharma by suggesting to evaluate before taking up any assignment. "Rohit is a brilliant cricketer, nothing sort of an asset for Indian cricket. But, he will remain an asset only if he scores runs. Questions were raised on everyone, be it Garry Sobers, Don Bradman, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar or Viv Richards," he said on Uncut.

World Cup-winning captain also commented on players taking too much rest these days. "It’s hard to know today who has been rested or asked to be rested. Only selectors will know about this," Kapil Dev added.

Kapil Dev also advised Virat Kohli to assess his batting immediately and score runs for the team. "He needs to score runs asap. You cannot go ahead too far based on reputation alone," he concluded.
