Royals had the best-ever season after winning the IPL 2008. They had most of
their bases covered but needed an all-rounder and a potent middle-order
batter.

The auction witnessed them doing exceedingly
well to secure the services of Jason Holder, Joe Root, and Adam Zampa as the
top picks. Although Zampa and Root don’t fit into the scheme of things at
present, they will serve as strong
backups.

Top-order: Jos
Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (c & wk)

Jos Buttler
emerged as the top scorer in the last edition and was the key force behind RR’s
entry into the playoffs. At the other end was Yashasvi Jaiswal, who perfectly
played the role of an aggressor in this partnership. At the number three
position, Sanju Samson will look to be his best to contribute to the team’s success
like the last edition.

Middle-order: Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Jason Holder

With top-order
packed, Devdutt Padikkal will come at the No.4 spot, which was witnessed in the
2022 edition. Another southpaw Shimron Hetmyer made sure the team gets a good acceleration
in the slog overs.

Then, Riyan
Parag has been in sublime form in the domestic circuit and is likely to bat at
number six. The experienced all-rounder Jason Holder has been impressive with
his hitting in T20s and knows how to finish off the innings well.

Bowlers:
Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal

RR have a
well-rounded bowling attack with experienced pacers as well as spinners. Ravichandran
Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal will be crucial to the team in the middle overs. On
the other hand, Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna have been doing well in the
powerplay overs, but need to contain runs in the death overs.
